As Matthias said - aptd only acquires the lock when required so it is
perfectly safe to have both running. If anything, this is a bug in
synaptic - it should be able to run without holding the lock the whole
time.

package with it locally and confirmed that it fixes the leak in xfce4
-power-manager, which is
to be honest - I have no idea what USC actually does.
Given that the dependencies aren't there to autoremove I would assume
that it does do that.

I'm not able to reproduce this but I've modified the signal handler to
check the arguments are in the form we expect before passing them to
g_variant_parse. So please check if you get a g_warning instead of a
