When I did a search in Gedit with a large text file (about 101 KB), the editor
hangs and used high CPU load.
When I shut down the application, a dialog box appears: The Window "history.log
(/var/log/apt) - gedit" is not respondig. This dialog box is attached.

Just some new updates. I have just did a fresh install of 13.10, and tested the
layout settings. It definetely does not work on a fresh install. Alt_shift is
also not able to be set with gsettings, gsettings only works with the
Ctrl_shift toggle. After enabling the proposed updates, it is still
