asus UX31E (i5, new slim
In addition, the ubuntu 12.04 installation iso (i386 or amd64) can't
shutdown either:
I put the iso in a flash drive: boot by grub4dos, fat32 fs, with casper-
rw to save changes.
I've used these flash drives (one for i386, one for amd64) to install
many laptops (more than 10), but I can never shu
Tried again (as a while passed by and I am currently on 12.04): Still
same issue.
Clicking eject in Nautilus seems to remove the device correctly, but
disk usage analyzer for example still sees it - so that does not
completely unmount the drive/device!
I consider this a critical issue as I am not
On 2012-05-30 the status was changed to Incomplete.
However, that question was answered; so shouldn't the status be reset to
Confirmed?

Ok, after discussion on IRC we figured that there is an obvious error in
10_smaller_syndaemon_timeout.patch: we add an extra argument to *args[]
without changing the allocation (i.e we write NULL out of the arrays),
not sure how that turns out in corrupting ebx but Chris is looking at it

Strange enough in Xubuntu this problem does not occur with the date-time
settings in the upper right corner, while it does occur with any of the
other application indicators on Xubuntu. What's different about that
solution?

I've installed Linux Mint 13 (Maya) Ubuntu 12.04 based on 6 PCs for
educational purpose.
Shutdown via GUI does not work at all. The PCs remain powered on, but no
input is possible
I tried to turn them off on a console but only one manages to power off after
:~$ sudo shutdown -h now:~$
bu
...on next reboot I tried turn off again as root, but then it didn't
work
this is not funny...it reminds me on another OS I've used to struggle with on
decade, and I'm happy that I nearly have anything to do with it!
...and of course I'll never be using that again! LINUX 4ever!

I have the same problem. I have a compaq presario 2109 laptop with an
AMD Athlon processor.
If I shut down, the screen freezes with the ubuntu home page with 4 dots
and the dots don't move. I have to manually power off.
If i try shut down -h, that doesn't work properly either.

I think it's now 12-04 but I can't seem to get the machine to say that.

out the --same-as part
settings to verification-done to unblock the SRU, the update has no
regression and fixes some other bugs, we will reopen the bug once the
SRU moves to -updates

Can't drag/drop files onto bookmarked
I was using my laptop to play movies on my tv using hdmi. When I
upgraded recently, which included a new kernel, the hdmi causes the
computer to freeze, forcing a reboot. As long as I don't plug in the
hdmi everything works properly. But the instant I plug in the cable the

caused by the gtk+ upgrade to 3.5.4 that the new light-themes,

The bug is marked fix released so no need to change anything, the
rendering issues are side effects of the new GTK uploads and being
worked, today updates have some fixes already even if it's not perfect

Addendum: After a restart, it works. I have no clue why, but the setup in #22
has just to be swapped, by assigning this new configuration, it works:
