Upgraded a pretty clean Karmic system to Lucid RC yesterday, and now I'm
seeing the laptop battery indicator applet twice in my panel: once in
the Notification Area and once in the Indicator Applet. The former
displays the "broken" icon, though clicking on

This doesn't sound like a gnome-session issue - it still runs startup
applications as normal during auto-login and applications added to
Startup Applications by a user shouldn't depend on a particular order
for things to start (anything added by the user is started in the
Application phase anyway,

I just experienced the same problem after upgrading to Lucid, but with a
Kensington mouse. The mouse stopped working until I killed rhythmbox.

Disabling the MTP plugin in Rhythmbox fixes the problem. I don't have

The problem is I think that is rather subjective, for me the current
fonts look much better. Choosing the proper font size is going to vary
based on screen size/resolution and individual opinion. Which is why I
think this is best fixed in empathy to honor system preferences.

Interestingly, if I launch in parallel a very CPU heavy task (i.e. VLC
with HD DVB-T channels), the rates above differ significantly. It almost
works properly 9 times out of 10...
So, depending on the machine, tasks, and so on, one may not be able to

I made a feature request upstream on gnome bugzilla and they say that
they won't add the feature. So the ball is on Ubuntu's court: please
either enable bitmap fonts back by default, or special-case gnome-
terminal with a patch.
