Actually, since the m4 macro will be included in aclocal.m4 (or the
like) in developers distributing source tarballs from Ubuntu, this is

It is not completely clear to me how to use xrandr to detect multiple
displays. On the command line it looks like the following will see if an

I usually start my day long editing session with "emacs file &" from there
because it much faster than opening the main menu as I always have an open

After doing a clean install using the Intrepid CD (downloaded
2010-02-23), I still got this problem when mounting my homedir
(inheritance from Intrepid). Possibly the issue is related to rebooting
and loggin in on my user account before (all) updates are installed. But
I guess for most users that w
the rhythmbox bug has been fixed but there is still an application
indicator issue

sudo is designed not to echo the password (or asterisks or anything else
in its place) as you type. If you type in your user password and press
return it should allow you to execute the desired command as root.

Controls should be on the right, and Minimize button should be the left
most on of the three.
I really wonder what guideline the UI designers were following. If there
is nothing left to do but play around with these buttons, then some
config GUI should be provided so that it can be easy to mess up
