How do you suggest to implement this in g-s-d? Currently, it handles the

I'd got this problem too after migrating to Karmic. And it doesn't
depends on file codec or container. Disabling any screensaver solved the
problem completely. I left only monitor turn off when idle.

1st time i was opening emesene by panel icon and gnome panel crashes and 2nd
time i was closing wine notepad.

With activated plugin to show spaces I see dots for spaces. But I still do not
see the shy hyphen.
In OpenOffice.org you can add one with Ctrl-- and see a gray box. That should
be similar even without the plugin.
