Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gconf
On my system, whenever I use SSHFS to transfer files to a slow connection, "gconf-helper" turns into a Zombie with the following results: - Starting Firefox complains: Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. See http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/ for information. (Details - 1: Server ping error: IDL:omg.org/CORBA/COMM_FAILURE:1.0) - Gnome terminal doesn't start - Gnome editor starts with default settings - I need to reboot, logout/login or kill "gconfd-2" (which still causes problems, because applications don't see other instances of themselves running) ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Wed Dec 2 10:29:16 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 ExecutablePath: /usr/lib/libgconf2-4/gconfd-2 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release i386 (20091028.5) NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Package: libgconf2-4 2.28.0-0ubuntu2 ProcEnviron: SHELL=/bin/bash LANG=en_ZA.UTF-8 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-15.50-generic SourcePackage: gconf Uname: Linux 2.6.31-15-generic i686 ** Affects: gconf (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 -- Gnome configuration helper crashes (turns into zombie) when using SSHFS and long-distance/slow transfer of files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/491258 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gconf in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
