I think that GDM is not restarted, when the user leaves system. Because
if to restart GDM these commands
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start
or
sudo stop --no-wait gdm

After updating my xubuntu 9.04 to 9.10 the gnome-display-properties
doesn't show in the panel any more and when manually starting the
application, making changes and then applying, nothing happens
It do detect my screens properly and

As in the summary. Worked fine until upgrading to Karmic Koala distro.
Doesn't cause any errors as far as I can see, but pretty annoying with

Thanks for your report. The error comes from PolicyKit, whose daemon
can't be started for some reason. You may work around this problem by
running 'sudo /usr/lib/policykit-1/polkitd' before starting users-admin.
