This is actually really sad.
It seems like the nature of the problem is well understood. There is a
ton of confirmation. The exact area that needs to be fixed has been
identified, but the responsible parties just point fingers at each

I totally agree with you being on our own.
I too have reinstalled, I've made sure the password was in the keyring,
I've changed settings...nothing. It's annoying to no end.
Every time Evolution goes out to check for mail it prompts for the
password. I put it in...sometimes it works
This just happened to me again when moving from mp3 to an m4a (aac)
file, so it isn't just ogg. The file wouldn't start playing. However,
clicking Next (Alt+Right) and then Previous (Alt+Left) worked. The file
started playing when I jumped back to it.

Nan M: you need to restart the applet after installing the updated

some testing I found that the gvfs backend has an issue with share names
greater than 13 characters in length

Hi, the problem exist only with .mkv files. It occur on Ubuntu 9.10
upgraded from 9.04 and on Ubuntu 9.10 installed at formatted harddisk.

Ok, now I'm scratching my head... I've just noticed I haven't had any
package updates since I started my distribution upgrade. So I start
update manager and it was behaving like a fresh install where you have
to click "check" to bring the package list down, else it thinks the
packages are all up-t

I tried "chrt -f 50 totem" and can't reproduce on karmic; perhaps I need
a special kernel or something?

Oh right, -rt kernel; ok, I think that's a valid issue but as seb128
said, it's not critical since it's our first report; upstream is
certainly interested in fixing it I guess.

I think it is the problem of the video player with the system.May be
inadequate support for fonts.The movie with embedded subtitles playback
is no problem,but the movie with external subtitles playback have a
problem(external subtitles are *.srt file,is also *.txt file).

Would anyone like me to upload an image of the drive to a file sharing
service? I've eliminated personal data and replaced the drive with
