I wil have to disagree with about ram. busy trying to clone my root
partition with dd to a usb hard drive. booted with jaunty 32bit live cd
and started the process with dd if=/dev/sda3 of=/media/disk/image.img
conv=sync,noerror bs=64K. 1st 10GB flew by at 25-30MB/s then started
slowing down to 10MB

There is a solution to fix partially this problem. First nautilus open
without preview. After the display of all picture, by first it displays
preview one by one.
This resolve the first problem.
Then It disable preview on non seen pictures when nautilus take over 80 Mo and
enable on seen picture

when using pdftoppm -mono font rendering is really bad. It looks like as if
antialiasing is applied before halftoning, fonts appear scraggly. Also applies
to vector graphics.
Same happens when printing to my mono-laser printer from okular.
Yes its reproducible, open or create a folder on the desktop then close
it again causing the entire desktop area to be refreshed.
But, I had observed that this does not happen to the secondary account I
created. It only happen when I use the primary account.

a network folder to copy some files on my local drive. It showed the
file copying progress window which means that the file transfer process
in ongoing, I tr

I suffer the same problem with my PC. It is caused by the Ubuntu insistence in
using 'pulseaudio' in the new releases. I patched up my PC by removing
'pulseaudio' and installing 'esound' in its place. Now the Audio works and I
can use Skype. The problem is that, with any new update, Ubuntu rein

Just updated my VM to the current state of karmic, this is still
happening. The nautilus windows no longer close themselves but the
segfault is still logged by the kernel.
This is still gvfs-backends 1.3git20090512-0ubuntu1. libgdu0 is
0.3.0-0ubuntu2.

I just tried changing the mount of the ntfs partition to gid=1000. For
me, using 9.04, this did not change the behaviour of trash at all. That
is, I can only delete from the ntfs partition.
This behaviour is one of the reasons I don't promote ubuntu to others.

Hi,
I'm going to jump on the bandwagon here with a big "me too".
But my mute button does not work either, if that is relevant.
The strange thing is that these keys used to work in Jaunty before. They
only recently stopped working. (Update perhaps?)
I have tried most of the stuff mentioned above
I confirm I have this buggy behaviour since upgrade to Jaunty ...
The proposed fix works for me too, so I think it should be provided
through updates, since importing pictures from a digital camera is a
major feature.

offline, the cpu worms just keep moving in a straight line. they don't respond
to walls or other players. so offline play is not working after one online game.

The default color palette used by gnome-terminal is "Tango" which maps
the "black" color of ncurses to a dark grey (not black) this makes using
ncurse programs (like emacs, aptitude...) much difficult since it
reduces contrast.

Sad to say the scenario did not happen while I retested it so obtaining some
valuable informations for a solution did not show while doing the backtrace
process.
Hopefully that was just some technical glitches that caused the file transfer
operation to fail. I'll still be observing this scenario
