Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

Greet to all.
I'm trying to set up a Xvnc server on my home pc. What I want is to let a user
connect through vnc on port 5901 and then login through Gdm (the default login
manager); Xvnc is launched through xinetd.

I'm able to access my home pc through VNC, but all I get is a blank brown/grey
screen with the X mouse cursor (gdm not starting I suppose)
After some trying, actually I don't have any .vnc/xstartup file. is it needed
with my configuration (see attached)?

My system is Ubuntu Jaunty (9.04), vnc4server package is version
4.1.1+xorg1.0.2-0ubuntu7 (fron jaunty universe), gdm is version
2.20.10-0ubuntu2 (from jaunty main).

I attach my /etc/xinetd.d/Xvnc, /etc/gdm/gdm.conf and
"/var/log/syslog|grep gdm" output (obviously after enabling debug).

PS: Please note that I mainly access my home pc through ssh, so if
possible please give me "command line" instruction to change things.

** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
