Thanks - reinstalling liblcms1 and f-spot worked. Removing liblcms1 also
removed several other packages e.g. f-spot, eog, gimp, openjdk, etc. but
these only took a few minutes to reinstall. F-spot and eog now working fine.

do you have an icon-theme.cache in /usr/share/icons/hicolor? does
deleting it makes a difference? I might be focussing on the wrong thing
but those icon warning for files which are installed are weird. could
you run "strace evolution &>log" and look for the lines having "lpi" in
log and copy those

It has been reported of a problem in Evolution 2.26 that prevents users
to save appointments using the it_IT locale.
This was due to a problem in the Italian localization of evolution-data-
server that used the %-H as a string formatter for %H.
