I have a very similar problem with 8.10 on my Dell Inspiront 640m
(equivalent to the E1504)
I have the same problems as Karl M except I do not have anything using
large amounts of CPU when the keyboard is non responsive.
One other strange behavior I noticed is that when the gnome-power-
manager
the log is useful and the issue is that it doesn't figure what
access_method is used for the device, this svn change is likely to fix

I recall having this problem with other apps but I can't come to think
of any and the ones I've tested all worked now.
It might be that I had the problem when I pasted from Excel 2003 and IE
running under CrossOver.
If it's a VirtualBox issue, how come it works fine to paste into gedit?

Some problem here. The "speed" slider at "repeat keys" has no effect.

I'm confirming that the intrepid-proposed version works correctly, I've
set eog as the default application to open directories on intrepid,
upgraded gnome-panel and restarted the session, nautilus was used by
default, the message line was in the .xsession-errors log and eog was
still listed as a ch
In my case, ~/.gvfs was made unwriteable during an upgrade. I logged out
and made the directory writeable and now everything works.
