I was using totem-gstreamer. I just installed totem-xine and gave that a try
and I have skipping in that app too. Interestingly enough, I was watching
the graphs in System Monitor, and every time the music skips, the scrolling
in System Monitor stops, consistently with the music. The ski

Yes, all the machines I tried are using the spanish locale.

Given a samba share on debian server which allows READ ONLY access to

I had a similar mount problem related to a usb hard drive.
Following line in /etc/fstab was the reason for this error:
/dev/sdb1 /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto,exec,utf8 0

I want to apologize for my post, as this problem is only valid on my
laptop, where I am experiencing Bug #217685 (seems to be an issue with
the keyboard of my laptop). My workstation accepts Ctrl+Alt+Del after a
single click in the vnc window, so logging on to a locked M$ box is no
problem at all.
I'm terribly sorry, Sebastian, but after a reboot today in the morning
everything started to work seamlessly again (logoff/logon didn't help, I
tried it several times yesterday). I don't even know how to reproduce
the bug again. Right now it works as a charm, exactly like it did
before.

I again reused totem-gstreamer+gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg for a test. Now some

I've been fine since 2.6.24-15 (I think). It was certainly an update
from the Ubuntu beta 4 disc but may be included now the official release
is out. system/apt-get upgrade should sort things out...

I really have to ask now (out of genuine curiosity), wtf does tracker
have to do with gdm (or even, gdmsetup for that matter)? isn't it a
user-level app anyway? what is there to index over there? (I guess we
are talking about the tracker indexing/search tool)

I just upgrade from 7.10 to 8.04 LTS yesterday.
The gdmsetup runs normally yesterday before I disable the indexing.
When I run the gdmetup, it shows no error message, but Sebastien says, it
triggers a trackerd up to search for something (I don't know).
So, if I run the indexing, then gdmsetup runs
