My bug is a bit sucky, I've been trying to go through a strace to see
where it accesses the fonts but there is a lot of noise around Totem

Ahh it does appear that it's starting gnome-settings-daemon. Killing
that takes the fonts back to normal. It appears as well in the strace to
be started by Totem so I assume it's needed for it.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Nautilus doesn't do previews of HTML files, that's rather
pdfs files you have or some mix of applications of nautilus with
konqueror, not a gnome bug.

I can confirm this is still occurring in Evolution 2.11.91-0ubunu1 on
Gutsy.
Occasionally, filters will be run on new mail already sitting in the
Inbox when starting Evolution, but not reliably. Otherwise, messages
need to be selected and the filters activated with ^y.
