Since no solutions seem to exist I have shifted to Xfce4. Fast, light
and no problems.

I request this bug to be re-opened. I had supplied information as
required. I also want to report that this problem has surfaced once
again. Please see the attached screenshots wherein:
1. In one there is no alignment or proper arrangement of the folder
icons.
2. In the other the icons are aligne
[Expired for nautilus (Ubuntu) because there has been no activity for 60
days.]

Let me attempt a more complete description. I was viewing a folder in
Nautilus. This happened to be a network mounted folder mounted via smb4k.
I cannot exactly say why it happened, but the entire icon view became
misaligned. There is an invisible row-column grid in which icons are placed
normally
