I've started to experience this issue on a upgrade from 11.10 to 12.04.
This seems to app on a upgrade, a full install may fix this otherwise I
see that no solution as yet to be produced. Just giving an update on an
non fixed bug.

I'm trying out the 11.10 Beta and my system won't suspend on lid close anymore.
Used to work fine with the previous stable release. This isn't a clean install,
but and upgrade from version 11.04, so it may have something to do with that.
I'll try a live image as soon as I can to confirm this iss
Thank you for your question.
To answer it, I haven't been able to reproduce this bug since I switched to
OS X. I am still unable to reproduce under OS X 10.6.7.
Keep up the good work!

You are amazing guys, this bug persisted for 3 years, and I changed 2
laptops allready and I do not use Ubuntu anymore because of ubuntified-
drivers and other stuff. Anyway I would recommend you to focus on
hardware support for linux kernel and make a good contribution for that,

FWIW, I am no longer affected by this bug on 10.10 netbook. I had
upgraded my AOD250's BIOS from v1.03 to v1.27 for another power
management bug 401944, which may have corrected this problem also.

A small addendum: the problem disappears when I'm on battery power, and
reappears when I plug in. In other words: my chosen setting for lid
close in g-p-m are honored when I'm not plugged in, not honored
otherwise (always just blanks the screen).

I seem to be affected by this as well (HP Compaq 8710p), on vanilla

OK maybe I spoke too soon.
I just tried to suspend by closing the lid and it failed again. I had to
suspend following ctrl-alt-del. So this is an intermittent problem now.
Never had this issue with 9.04.

OK just want to update--this seems to be working for me now. I don't
know what could have changed that fixed this, but here is what changed
on my system since I reported the problem:

Installed the following packages:

I have exactly the same issue on HP Compaq 8710p. Then closing the lid,
the screen just hangs, and it is set to suspend. Then I use a keyboard

I agree this bug should remain open. The problem is that you should be
able to follow the steps in comment #8, but if you do follow those
steps, it doesn't work.

Oh and by the way, my laptop sleeps/resumes fine when I tell it to do so
from the keystroke shortcut or the GUI menu. Closing the *lid* doesn't
work.
Great work, Sherlock Duplicate.

Just wanted to report on how hilarious this has been. First I'm told I'm
wrong, then I'm told I'm right, then I'm told it's a dupe and to take a

Thanks, but I'm going back to Windows.
