interesting... i can confirm this bug here.
when doing previous at ~5 seconds it simply continues playback but is silent
for some seconds. this happens with rhythmbox and banshee so let's re-assign
this to gst-plugins-ugly0.10 for now as it only happens with mp3s...

Try that. With this demo, you need to press previous at about 5 seconds.
Perhaps it's a percentage of the song rather than a set time.
(This is hosted on my desktop machine, so bear with me)

Alright here is a more clear description.
I choose to play a song in my library. We'll use 'Led Zeppelin - Moby
Dick.mp3' for example. This mp3 has been ripped and encoded using grip and
lame.
Next, the song begins to play. Let's let the song play for a while. Perhaps
to 0:13 seconds.

Could you give an example of what file you play, where you are placed to the
song and where you are moved when pressing the previous button? Does "rhythmbox
-d" prints something useful on the topic?
