Alright here is a more clear description. I choose to play a song in my library. We'll use 'Led Zeppelin - Moby Dick.mp3' for example. This mp3 has been ripped and encoded using grip and lame. Next, the song begins to play. Let's let the song play for a while. Perhaps to 0:13 seconds. I press the Previous button. Rhythmbox will pause for a moment. Next, the slider will increase to ~23 seconds, and playback will continue. Nothing really interesting or ontopic is posted when I run with the debugging information printed. If someone would like a song be sent to them for testing purposes only, I would be glad to do so.
ALSO: Mp3 files that I have not ripped seem to work fine (ie: downloaded from external sources).
