I am currently running Ubuntu 10.04 as a fresh install after a failed upgrade... still retaining my old /home partition. The Ubuntu install sits patiently waiting for me while my current production install is Kubuntu 10.04. Nice to have a backup if needed. I think this bug can be closed at this

This is my production machine so I don't think I can re-install 8.04 and then do the upgrade again without the process being problematic. So as for reproducing the issue I'd prefer not to try. I'm not sure what other info I can provide that might be of benefit. If there is anything please let me
