Same problem. also running Slickness as the Gnome theme. Compiz enabled with
Emerald.
If I leave the computers for a few hours and come back and press the keyboard
or mouse the screensaver goes away but the desktop does not comeback. I can

I just upgraded from Hardy to Intrepid (32bit) last night and this bug
showed up. I am running Compiz and have SlicknesS as the theme for
gnome.
When the screensaver starts it goes to a bright white screen.

I have a similiar issue with my PC and Intrepid installed.
Occasionally the system freezes, when the screensaver is active and I press a
keyboard key to get the password dialog. I am using the "Matrix" screensaver on
this machine, and the graphics chip onboard is Intels "82915G Integrated

I have the same problem.. The display becomes white and the only
workaround is to kill the screensaver process.
Happens a lot when I log out or switch to another user.

Yup, with compiz disabled the screensaver works as it should.
Perhaps this bug should be also be listed as a compiz bug.
