Same problem here. But it does not remember the windows status. It
always opens unmaximized. Evince opens pdf's the first time maximized.
After that unmaximized..

Same bug for me.
Since upgrading to Hardy, opening PDF documents in maximized evince freezes on
the loading page until the window is unmaximized.
The last status of the window is saved, so closing evince with unmaximized
window means it will reopen unmaximized as well, and everythings works
co
Confirm. Evince bacame a memory hog. It eats all possible memory and hangs.

I'm having the same problem with evince in Hardy. Attached is a PDF
file that freezes while loading...sometimes (see below). It seems to
happen with many different PDFs but the bug is inconsistent. The
problem only happens if evince opens maximized. For example, I opened
the attached PDF twice
