oops... it appears that i could have had a file protection problem -
the files where protected 600 in a directory protected 775 (i cannot
see why. it is .lyx) and i wanted to paste them into a similarly
protected directory (again 775). i guess the later was causing the
failue.

Thank you for your bug. I just created a file using "touch" and copied
it with nautilus without any issue. Does it work for you? Did you get an
error?
