After the upgrade to 12.10 (from 12.04) I cannot reproduce the bug anymore (at
the moment at least)
The installed version is Quantal is 0.12.90 (was 0.12.3 on Precise)

after your comment I did some investigation. First of all I can confirm I have
no filter applied on my library.
After some test I found that the problem with missing pictures on my library is
a picture ordering problem (should we change the title of the bug?)

Apologies for the late response on this, but, might it be possible that
you have your images filtered somehow by date? I ask because we're
unable to reproduce this locally at all, and I'm at a loss as to why
importing would work, but the images would otherwise be hidden.
