As of Ubuntu 8.04 with Totem Movie Player 2.22.1 (version that installs
with 8.04) this problem is far from fixed. Totem (seemingly randomly)
either crashes, freezes, tells me my CDROM isn't responding (yea right).
VLC on the other hand works a lot better, but still isn't perfect.

I would just like to add that this bug is not new. It was present in
Ubuntu 7.10 as well. I did not submit it prior to now because there were
other bugs that were similar. Now it appears they are inactive.

I can confirm this bug on my Thinkpad T60. Running Ubuntu 7.10 (with all
