Same problem under Lucid :(
Was able to manually mount it:
sudo mount -t vfat /dev/sdg1 /mnt
The ubuntu disk utility identifies it as as USB storage device formatted as a
FAT16 partition with 48MB capacity
Maybe that is why it has trouble automounting - this is a very old file
system.

I am seeing the same thing after an upgrade from 8.10
Tried forced reinstall of firefox from synaptic, still no icon.
As a workaround:
Where is the icon file supposed to be so I can fix it manually if it is
installed but not set?
Which package should I get to install it if it is missing?

The bug still happens 100% of the time with evolution, thunderbird is
ok. Sometimes the screen is painted partially or fully black except for
the toolbar a few seconds after launching evolution. The mouse and

The last update I did may have sort of fixed it - or at least I did something I
didn't before. When I click on a .pdf to open it it shows the grey screen as
usual, but as soon as I change from its default 400% zoom the document appears.
