During installation of this package my PC froze and the only way was to
make reboot after switching to console (GUI was totally frozen)

I came across patched Nautilus from SoluOS project, installed it in few
easy steps described here:

And now Nautilus work OK :) So it's one of their patches, which solves
the problem :-)

I can add that I had no problems with nautilu 'til 2-3 days ago. Afte
upgrade to 12.04 everything was OK but it changed few days ago. So maybe
it's result of some updated package/library?

For me it works the way bluecalvin described. I've also added missing
Alt-F4 for window closing in "Windows" section.
But remember that there are 2 options for gnome-sesion-fallback - normal
and "no efffects". This workaroud is only for "no efffects" version
(metacity as a window manager). If you

My problem is with shutdown splash on Ubuntu. And as I see bug is for

I've had the same behaviour after upgrading from Gutsy to Hardy
(everything was OK in Gutsy). But I've found solution for this -
installed package "startupmanager", then set resolution of screen
(1024x768 in my case) and color depth (24 bits in my case) on "Startup
Options" tab, hit "Close" and now
1. This is duplicate of bug 159262
2. Generally splash_down should be called from initramfs so adding it to
gdm script is really only a partial solution.
3. For my fully working sollution was installing package
"startupmanager", then set resolution of screen (1024x768 in my case)
and color depth
I can confirm that after upgrade to Hardy, disabling workaround and
setting empty keyring password everything works fine. Thanks! :)

removed from gutsy when it's part o original package and was provided in
feisty.

It's obvious for me that it's only workaround and only for home users
for which simplicity is key feature. So you have temporary solution and
choice to do it or not.
I personally have done it on my wife's notebook since it's simple
environment used by her only a home, without any sensitive data. F
So until it's fixed you can use pam-keyring-tool provided above by
Troels Faber. Just put it in some folder (let's say /usr/local/bin),
create small script (I created /usr/local/bin/un_lock ) with 2 simple
lines:

echo "YOUR_PASSWORD" | /usr/local/bin/pam-keyring-tool -u -s
Then do "sudo

I had exactly the same bug on my newly installed Gutsy machine. Just
