etc... Finished testing. Uninstalled Dash To Dock. Expected Ubuntu Dock
to reappear. It did not, even after a shell restart and log out/in. I
was able to get it back by reinstalling and disabling Dash To

I am running Ubuntu 8.10 now and the included gpm seems to have the
right behavior for me. I don't know if they are using my patch or found
another solution for the same problem (I have not looked at the code).

I use a laptop with the US International keyboard layout. Since I am
Brazilian, when I attach an external keyboard to it I use a Brazilian
keyboard (ABNT2 model/layout). Untill 8.04 I simply had to add the
keyboard applet, configure

I found a bug in my patch that would prevent it to work if you set some
of the brightness parameters to 0 or 100. For example if you had set
brightness_ac to 100 (which is a quite reasonable value) it would not
work.

I have found out the problem. I'll use my laptop as an example. It has 7
brightness levels (from 0 to 6).
The default brightness parameters are brightness_ac=100,
brightness_battery=70, idle_brightness=30.
Hence, if I start the system plugged, my LCD starts at level 6. Then I
unplug: gnome-power-
I have already created a bug report to address the problem of decreasing
brightness values. The big number is

Same problem here. If I try to increase the maximum value to 350, the
screen does not dim after I unplug AC and the dim does not kick in after
inactivity. Another interesting twist is that the dim level varies if I
try to unplug and re-plug the laptop many times in a row.
