Sebastian: Thanks for the update. With the upcoming Dapper release, you must be **very** busy. On my Dapper AMD64 Ubuntu system, stopping DBUS (as mentioned above) is not a viable work-around. Too many other things "break". Such as, you can't log out of Gnome without hitting ctrl-alt-backspace. I

Having the same problem on a fresh Dapper Flight install (AMD64). Applet is always empty, even after deleting items. NOTE: Delete command that bypasses wastebasket is NOT enabled here. If I use Nautilus to go to ~/.Trash, the items previously deleted are there, though the trash applet does not
