With autosave and backup checked:
Autosave overwrites the original file. With this enabled, and backup
checked, the backup file is updated when the user clicks save. This means that
explicitly unsaved changes are written to the original (by autosave)
Problem still persists in Natty.

Okay, I figured out grub, I think. It looks like it was installing to
the wrong hard-drive. In order to get any grub changes to take effect,
I have to issue: "sudo grub-install /dev/sda" and then also "sudo
update-grub". Additionally, I added "splash quiet" back in and there is
no problem with t
If I remove "splash" from the linux line in grub, I don't get the screen
corruption.
This would be a fine solution if I could get it to stick. It seems I
have to do this manually every time I reboot. I've tried removing
"splash" from GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT= in the file /etc/default/grub

I have an ATI Radeon 9000 graphics card. It worked fine (though no 3d
acceleration) until I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04. When the computer
