Excuse me for the very late reply. I had some problems with installing
Karmic. After installing I tried the same test with Totem again. And it
seems that the problem is solved in Karmic. But it is not completely
stable. I tried the test a number of times. One time, Totem freezes. I

Performed a standard upgrade through upgrade manager. The gui session
closed without any error, I had to run sudo dpkg --configure -a to
complete the upgrade. After the restart I have 3 crash reports about
packages failing to upgrade.
