Hi, I also have same issue running Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 64bit Nautilus becomes unresponsive when navigating to a folder containing SVG's - I also believe they have embedded TIF images. A workaround is to set "Preview Thumbnails" to "Never" in the preferences, however obviously not acceptable.
Please find a gdb backtrace attached: Process while running backtrace: run a new instance of nautilus after previously becoming unresponsive and killed, navigating to problem folder containing SVG's, watching nautilus again become unresponsive and sending SIGINT via gdb in console (ctrl C) I think (and hope) I have all or enough debugging symbols installed.
