I don't think this is a Nautilus bug, but more likely an issue with your
setup with regards to your "Personal Folder" and EncFS integration.
Nautilus does not ask for passwords except mounting volumes. Someone
more familiar with your setup and EncFS should be able to help.

I have been experiencing this as well with Intrepid on a D600 as well.
In fact I didn't realize the problem was related to the use of Fn +
hotkeys to change the brightness, until googling the issue. When the
issue occurs, the menus in the panel will not open. Clicking the mouse
will highlight the

silently changing users' preferences after an upgrade to be very poor
usability.

I am plagued with exactly the same problem. I can can see the shares but
they are empty, I can read and write to them (blindly) but nautilus
doesn't list any files. I think this has something to do with the server
version, I'm also running an older samba server (a freesco router) with

I have upgraded my ubuntu from 8.04 to 8.10 RC1 and my evolution (GNOME
evolution 2.24.1) crashes sometimes (race condition?) when I quickly
select a vfolder, do a search and clean it.

When pausing or stopping a song, located on a smb share and then
resuming it a short while after, rhythmbox skips the current + 1 to 5
songs and shows the "missing" icon for those. From the looks of it I
would assume a timeout problem somewhere.

Desktop Bug
If I add a new user, thst user has no icons in evolution at all. All the
icons are missing and I just see the "paper with a red cross" icon
everywhere. But if I make a .gtkrc-2.0 file that contains this line:
gtk-icon-theme-name="gnome"
and restart evolution, then all the icons are there, exept t
And sorry... now it's working out of the box, from my virtualised Ubuntu to my
laptop Ubuntu using Cups and a GTK app like Gedit (or tell me Gedit is not
GTK2?)
May be I already had an update (or Microsoft is doing a great job reparing CUPS
with MS Virtual PC 2007, which is unlikely!).

Sorry I didn't make myself clear. A similar procedure is able to make the icon
change as well. The problem is clearly that the icons are sharing the same
data. They are identical after a reboot, and are both the same as the last
change
that was made to either one. I've personally done it with the

In Ubuntu 8.10 it's impossible to adjust screen brightness on my laptop.
Both with screen brightness applet and with Power Manager.
This is a regression: in Ubuntu 8.04 this works fine.
