I found the option to enable the mnemonics, but I would consider
silently changing users' preferences after an upgrade to be very poor
usability.

The bug should now be: gnome-terminal silently changes users' mnemonics
preferences on upgrade.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

- The gnome-terminal menus (including popups) no longer have mnemonics since
upgrading from hardy to intrepid RC.
- See attached screenshot.
- My locale is en_AU.
- Ubuntu: intrepid RC
- gnome-terminal: 2.24.1-0ubuntu1
+ The gnome-terminal menus (including popups) no longer have mnemonics
+ since upgrading from hardy to intrepid RC.
+
+ I had to manually change the option back to enable them again.
+
+ I would consider this clandestine alteration to my settings after an
+ upgrade to be very poor usability. Nothing bothers users more than
+ finding their settings have suddenly changed without explanation.
