The latest 'fix' doesn't fix the bug for me. This is my situation for if
you want to try to reproduce it:
1. Make a Samba share on another server. Mine are unpublished i.e. you don't
see them when browsing the network, but you can "cd" and log into them after
which they become visible in Nautilu

I'm also having the same problem. It happens with Totem, VLC, and
MPlayer. It doesn't matter if I play audio or video, the system hangs as
soon as the program is opened. The mouse cursor still moves, but the
system is otherwise unresponsive, even to Ctrl+Alt+Backspace.

I was able to play Samba shared files in Totem just clicking on them in
Nautilus until last Ubuntu Hardy upgrade. Now, it's no longer possible
to do so. It gives a "resource" read error.
It should be reproduced very easily, just open any video from
seahorse has made hardy unusable. I run ssh commands across a few dozen
machines at once, and using ssh-agent always works. Since "upgrading"
to Hardy and dealing with seahorse agent, I can regularly get seahorse
to drop the credentials, requiring me to log out and back in to get all
the X child

may you install the following packages: libgtk2.0-0-dbgsym,
libglib2.0-0-dbgsym and evolution-dbgsym and get a new trace? the one
you submitted is missing some of them, also a few steps in order to
reproduce the issue would be helpful to have, thanks.

I have tested my patch.
It works well with:

* dash
* ksh
* ash
But does not work with:
* zsh
* csh
* fish
* tcsh
* es
* rc
* sash
I did not see any ill-effects on the shells where it didn't work,
besides not finding executables in ~/bin. And I think we have the vast

I am having the same issue here. when leaving fullscreen totem, its crashing
the X server.
Xorg.0.log has no errors in it.

Does not work for me.
I ran Hardy with that kernel-command, unplugged the powercord, moved my
mouse and it froze for a few seconds. Every time I try I get this dmesg:

LDAP fails. Says it can't find the server, but the server is there and spelled
correctly. Works in Windows. Problem is probably with the authentifiaction.
