I always feel a little leary resizing partitions, but my buddy had a
vista setup (one big 180gb partition NTFS and a small "restore"
partition) I wanted to put XP next to it (He won't do ubuntu...yet :)
I tried resizing with kubuntu feisty herd 5 and it said something about
an unclean NTFS system,
Wow. Gnome-terminal and nautilus launch within a second now. They use to
take at least 2 seconds.
If I read the comments here 'correctly' this is not a bug, but a
workaround for bugs in _some_ applications. Nevertheless, it might be a
good idea to apply this patch by default, just for Feisty. As

standard Ubuntu composite manager. I even tried installing compiz-dev

that's documented on the valgrind wiki page: "Please ensure you have
packages with debug symbols installed. You can do this by following the
instructions at DebuggingProgramCrash."

the message looks like it has been interruption with ctrl-C, that would

I can't reproduce this in Ubuntu 7.04 updated to 23rd March with 'Update
Manager' - no version information, no 'About' button.

I don't have Dapper any more to test it, but this was supposedly fixed
to dapper. Try creating a file called .gnomerc in your user's home
directory and placing the umask in it. That has worked in Feisty for
me.
