The composite manager that I am using is compiz, which I believe is the standard Ubuntu composite manager. I even tried installing compiz-dev and all dependencies, still no luck drawing the "view as list" window.
If you look at the title bar on the window I took a screenshot of, you'll notice that it does not look correct either.
