I have assigned this bug to gnome-keyring, because it just idiotic it
even asks for passwords to store passwords associated with a user.
They are associated with a user. It should not ask for a 'global'
password in the beginnen, nor one to access stuff. Just one question

I've hit this bug, just now. It doesn't occur with my own user account,
but it does occur with any user account I create with the 'desktop'
profile. What's going on?
There is one difference though. It doesn't save the file, nor do I get
any output on the terminal. THe window just stays grayed out

dialog that asks me to input a password, and that's ok. But just right
after that, network-manager asks me again because of the keyring thing
in order to allow connection

I'm reopening this as I think this problem has persisted ever since. It
has for me at least. On my Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn) install the login
background and the desktop background are both clearly banded.

Since it happened during running update-manager and based on your request I
have issued the following command:
G_SLICE=always-malloc G_DEBUG=gc-friendly valgrind -v --tool=memcheck
--leak-check=full --num-callers=12 --log-file=valgrind.log

I also get the message when I log in remotely through nx:

Clarification to last comment: "crashed on this one MP3 the way it
usually does": I did not mean to imply that this is an intermittent
problem. To recap, it always crashes on the same MP3s, and it always
crashes in the same spot in the MP3.
