work on 6.06 (Dapper). I've heard that it's probably fixed in a later kernel
than the one used in EDGY today.

Grr, been away from the bug too long, forgot the setup. gnome-open
works fine if Firefox is already open (of course), but it does indeed
fail (with error message "Error: No running window found") when Firefox
isn't already open.

useradd is not supposed to put the user into any group, it's a very low-
level tool. If you add users with the 'Users and groups' gnome tool,
they will get the 'desktop' profile by default which includes audio
access.
