xserver 1.4 (2:1.4-1 from experimental) plus intel 2.1.1-3 fails miserably. The video goes completely dark, both X and vc, and is not restored by returning to vc console. For Intel 855GM, linux 2.6.22. No single clear bug (the DVOI2C errors are not fatal, at least xserver 1.3 has them too).
