Just to report my experience, in case it may help.
I have an Alps touchpad and vertical scrolling did not work after upgrading to
xserver 1.5.99.901. Actually, the problem was that the "Synaptics Edges" were
wrong. Adjusting them according to docs made vertical scrolling work again.

Could you please release a version of libx11-6 without xcb until this
bug is fixed?
This bug is killing us here: we can not run our applications on current
Debian unless we patch our installs with an older (non-xcb) libX11.
