I see the same thing, just wanted to add that the keys adfb are also
missing. My XFConfig-4 may be messy, but it has worked fine until just

the above is no longer working after an upgrade to the versions below.
Before that I could use: Alt-f, Alt-b to jump whole words forward or
backward in a bash running within xterm. This doesn't work anymore,

I have the same problem with the keyboard :
from Gnome 2.6 (latest Sid) :
- open keyboard preferences -> layouts
- try to select both "fr" and "ca" layouts
(or "fr" and "us_intl")
=> You get an error window.
You can reproduce the same thing with the command line :

test until recently...
Branden, In the meanwhile I have contacted Michel Danzer (who is the
one in charge of the DRI packages) after indeed discovering that
removing xserver-xfree86-dri-trunk solves th
[below is basically a "me too" on an admittedly a bit chaotic
system, the point of interest *may* be that it is a related compaq
armada]
On a Compaq M300 laptop exactly the same symptoms
"The problem occurs during initial
invocation of the X server from xdm, also any time there is
a switch from
somewhere just before the SECURITY section, the xterm man page becomes
narrower (to about 2/3 normal width).
It looks like a bug to me.
