Hi,
I'm experiencing the following behavior with the new X 4.0.1-3 running
the "ati" X server:
Normally, the X server hangs and the screen goes blank somewhere
during startup.
However, if I bring down my ethernet connection first
using "ifconfig eth0 down", X starts up normally and it doesn't

Hello,
I'm using xfree86 4.0.1-3 from woody. Recently, I compiled an X program
which uses X locale setting and the linker just complained the undefined
referencing to "_Xsetlocale".
Here's a code that can demonstrate this:
$ cat > xlctest.c
#include
int main()
{
setlocale(LC_CTYPE, "");

Have a look at that.

Jake, take a look at this page for the definitive ``what S3 cards are
supported in 4.0.1?'' answer.

Perhaps there has been recent work in CVS to support your card that
hasn't been reflected in this document. If it is important to you, check
through this

Hi!
After a couple of weeks trying to get my Neomagic card to work in 1024x768
with XF 4, I'm now thinking about downgrading to 3.3.6, because I really
need 1024x768.
Is there a sort of procedure to downgrade?
thanks

Can it be so that both are using the same interrupt.
The bios usually tells what interrupts are assigned to what
during boot, just before the lilo prompt shows up.
At least with the motherboards I have resently worked with.

John, take a look in the changelog.Debian.gz filem about 51 lines into
the one on my machine. (Search for "TEMPORARILY".)
In the meantime, look at using dexter(1), or writing your config file by
hand (XF86Config(5)).

It is so. X_LOCALE has been deprecated for years.
In fact, it was deprecated in the very first release of Debian, over 4
years ago
