the problem is that selecting task-x-window-system marks half of the
software I have to be deleted, so I had to manually go over

I've checked this problem on my IBM TP235 which has CT6,
and it seems that the offending part is vgaHWRestore() called
from chipsRestore() in ct_driver.c
I already reported this to chips list in XFree86, and am waiting
for answer from chips driver developers.

Well, it's there. The ATI driver does not work. By this I mean if you try
to use it, your machine will lock up and you will have to stop-a and
reboot. So don't use it. The sunffb (create/elite) driver works for me. I
assume the other sun* (tgx, cg*, etc..) servers work aswell.

X when I'm on the console. If I start up the latest (as of yesterday)
Xfree86 on my Woody box, running 2.4.0-test11-pre1, and run a few x
programs (two Eterms, xmms, and netscape), then switch back to the console
and do some
Known issue with TDFX and the DRI module, I'm working on it.
For now you can comment out the 'Load "dri"' line in
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4.
This is definately becoming a FAQ.
