I will try two new install for compare,
on with the downgrade with 1.11 with proprietary driver and other with free
driver radeon.

you would have to talk to the maintainers of that proprietary driver, we
don't maintain that.

I made an wheezy install there is 5 days (2012/05/17).
I installed ATI driver with the last ATI proprietary.
I use this methodology :
aptitude install build-essential linux-headers-$(uname -r) module-a
