you would have to talk to the maintainers of that proprietary driver, we don't maintain that. (On a related note, http://bugs.debian.org/671320 suggests that this driver still doesn't work with X 1.12 (lol); so your methodology is flawed in that there's no appropriate dependency on the server, so you can't notice that fact on your own.)
