I just wanted to confirm the same behavior with version 4.2.1-6
of xserver-xfree86 . When switching from graphical console
into the text console, sometimes the text is garbled and looks like
blocks. Other times, the machine locks up (not just keyboard
and mouse, I can't even ping it anym
