When using current unstable xorg and 2.6.32, I do get the problem where
sometimes the screen just goes black. IIRC

Also, you filed against 2.7.1 of the 2D driver, but your log shows 2.3.2
in use.
I can't explain the window management not responding but some rendering
occurring,
