I have not seen these weird problems in some time. When using current unstable xorg and 2.6.32, I do get the problem where sometimes the screen just goes black. IIRC I have seen this reported upstream by others. 2.6.31 doesn't seem to trigger that problem so I've been using that. -- see shy jo
