Oh, and one more point: this lockup seems to happen much less frequently if I
do not run opengl apps full-screen but in a window (which might be full-screen

from another machine!
Also, my Xorg process now has 31M RSS, while before reboot it had >300M...
Perhaps there was (is?) a memory leak somewhere?

What would be the smartest way to proceed? Close this and reopen the same bug
against both kernel and X (since I cannot tell which one it is)?

It happens with everything Debian (including experimental) has had since
2.6.31. Only the .35 kernels I have not tested (because the problem seems to
have gone away before they came available).

X with xserver-xorg-video-intel is no longer usable: is causes memory corruption
which can only be solved by restarting X every week or so.
A little bit of googling suggests this is related to DRI corrupting kernel
memory,

Justification: renders package unusable
My maximum X session length has been reduced to about 24 hours, thanks to the
whole
system freezing seemingly at random. The freeze is complete enough to stop the

I have the (almost) same symptoms: corrupt fonts, corrupt colours, corrupt

And also no DRI, no DRI2. Similar problems plague all earlier versions of the
driver as well (to some extent at least). The recompliation menti

causes the X server to segfault. This happens occassionally with other
